Teplá monastery

Built in the 12th century, the Premonstratensian monastery in Teplá is a great attraction for many visitors. Its close link to Mariánské Lázně exists because of the abbot Karel Kašpar Reitenberger who was the major influence supporting the building of the spa. In the Roman-gothic monastery of Teplá the main and the cross altars are of interest as well as the shrine containing the remains of the monastery founder, the aristocrat Hroznata. The village of Teplá is only seventeen kilometres away from Mariánské Lázně in the direction of Karlovy Vary.
